The Taco Bell Shredded Chicken Burrito: A Beloved Fast Food Favorite
The Taco Bell Shredded Chicken Burrito
When it comes to fast foods, it is possible that many will attest to being a big time consumer of the Taco Bell Shredded Chicken Burrito. This basic menu favorite, the heaped shreds of carcass flavored and rolled easily into an edible taco-chin, has been a perennial winner in the Taco Bell world. However, as is the case with many tasty quick-service meals, it was not invulnerable to some shifts in menu transitions and was discontinued as recently as 2020. Nonetheless, the Shredded Chicken Burrito remains as a testimony on how, in spite of the chain’s shortcomings, Taco Bell can offer a satisfying meal worthy of customers’ cravings.
The Anatomy of the Taco Bell Shredded Chicken Burrito
Of even greater importance was the fact that the Shredded Chicken Burrito was not complicated at all. Wrapped in a soft warm flour tortilla was Taco Bell’s seasoned shredded chicken, which provided a moist and perfectly flavored protein component. The chicken was served with a combination of Mexican rice and topped with some avocado ranch sauce, which was creamy at the same time and had a tangy feel that really cut through the spiciness of the seasoned chicken. Shredded cheese was sprinkled over it and the combination of taste in every piece was lovely, a blend of crunchy and softness.
What this burrito was not however, was simply about the ingredients; it was about how Taco Bell had been able to bring together a proper meal in the form of a burrito that was filling and tasty, yet light enough to be eaten like a snack or even with other items on the menu. It was flexible, capable of being identified as a lunch or a snack or a meal in between the normal breakfast and dinner.
A Fan Favorite Disappears
Although people enjoyed it, the Taco Bell Shredded Chicken Burrito was taken off from Taco Bell’s menu in November of 2020 due to company’s attempts to minimize its food options. A lot of people were let down by this decision because for many the burrito had become a go-to, cheap and delicious food. That was as part of what the company calls “menu innovation” which is moving lighter items off its menu with an aim of easing its operations especially during the COVID-19 times.
Loss of the Shredded Chicken Burrito led to the fans of Chipotle expressing their displeasure through their social media accounts. Some began making petitions with an aim to try to get the establishment to ‘bring back the banned burrito’ while others attempted to cook the burrito themselves, and share their recipes and experiences online.
The Legacy Lives On
Unfortunately, Shredded Chicken Burrito is not in Taco Bell’s menu today but its memories will everlast. For most people it stands for much more than just junk food; it is a symbol of happiness that simple, good prepared food like a burrito could bring. Its popularity also points to how well Taco Bell has been in developing products that have a profound connection to established customers even after the products are no longer on the menu.
To the customers who have preferred the discontinued Taco Bell Shredded Chicken Burrito, Taco Bell suggests Chicken Quesadilla or Chipotle Chicken Melt since the both products have the same taste but in different structure. However this time, we have to remind ourselves that there is one item that is etched in the memory of its fans and despite being discontinued, the Shredded Chicken Burrito still has fans that still pray that it will one day return to the menu.
Among the numerous additions and changes in the fast food chain, that particular dish constitutes a perfect example of a basic and addictive combination of ingredients. Even if Taco Bell has not decided to introduce the product for now, the consequences that it has on the overall menu of the brand, as well as, its consumers cannot be overemphasized. Still, for those who seek such a taste, the reminiscence of that ideal bite will remain elusive.
